When your client says “typewriter” and “grandma's desk” and then also sends you a photo of a dumpster as a desired backdrop for her photo session...

Mallory envisioned a photo session featuring her vintage turquoise typewriter, an old writing desk, and a unique backdrop of a dumpster - I embraced the challenge with excitement! Mallory wanted images that balanced fun and professionalism, showing her playful side as an aspiring author while fitting the professional role of Vice President for the National Waste and Recycling Association that she held at the time (hence the dumpster).

I had the pleasure of working with Mallory on the Traverse City Young Professionals Marketing Committee. Her combination of reliability and attention to detail, along with her vibrant personality, makes her a standout human! As Event and Content Producer for Recycling today Media Group and past Vice President of Member Relations and Publications for the National Waste and Recycling Association and former publisher of WasteRecycling Magazine, she is truly a force to be reckoned with.

For the shoot, we chose her downtown apartment for the location. The natural light was beautiful and being in her personal space allowed her to feel comfortable and authentic. We also ventured outside to downtown Traverse City.

Mallory told me that she feels most confident when speaking and writing about her projects, and this session was a perfect opportunity to capture that energy. She’s currently working on her first novel, and the planning and execution of this shoot not only highlighted her dynamic personality but also turned unconventional elements into a creative and engaging experience.
